Your love endures for ever

This week in assemblies we have been looking at Jesus' compassion to those who were outcasts in society. The story of Zacchaeus and Jesus healing of Blind Bartimaeus spoke powerfully of his love for all. In many cases Jesus' compassion flew in the face of the expected norms of society, challenging stereo types and reaching out to those that others despised and looked down on.

Both stories remind us of God's love for everyone, whoever they are, but also God's desire to reach out to us in what ever situation we are in.

We have been reminding ourselves in each assembly of the powerful truth that is contained in Johns letter. How great is the love the father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are. The last line is celebrated with a punch to the air and if you stand out side the school I am confident you can hear 400+ voices declaring this truth!

In assembly today we reflected on all that we had looked at this week and reminded ourselves of the words of Psalm 118

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good
his love endures forever

These are encouraging words to take with us into the weekend.
