This week in our assemblies we have been considering how serving others can some time come at a cost. Every so often we come across someone who inspires us through the way in which they have made a real difference in people’s lives through their dedication and commitment to making a difference. One of the questions I asked in assembly was ‘who inspires you? ‘ I wonder what our own individual answers would be and what impact those people have had on our own lives.
Pausing to reflect on this in our assemblies, helped us to consider what difference we can make not just on our own, but together. Maybe we won’t achieve such a significant impact, but through our choices and our decision to demonstrate our response to Jesus call to love our neighbour through action, even if it is just in small ways, a difference can be made.
This has been our prayer this week – asking God to help us to make a difference in whatever way we can, big or small. The result of this, as we considered when looking at the life of Joe Homan, was that the end result, can change lives and if nothing else bring a smile to someone’s face.
