Year 5 take on a challenge or two!

Last week saw our year 5 classes taking on a number of different challenges involving them working together in teams to solve problems.

The first challenge involved a tarpaulin and tennis balls, sounds easy, but not when there was a hole in the middle of the tarpaulin and the challenge was to keep the ball moving and not allow it to fall through the hole. One ball was the first challenge and then it quickly increased to three. Great fun and lots of great team work.

Next they took on a bridge building challenge that saw them trying to support a weight over a 40cm gap. Great ingenuity and collaborative working was demonstrated. Such was the challenge that they needed little encouragement to keep them going. This came from the blackberries that some of the class had picked the day before and were very kindly turned into a crumble by our wonderful dinner ladies.
