AZTEC assembly by 5G

On Tuesday key stage two classes and parents of 5G children were treated to a wonderful retelling of the struggles between the Aztec's and the Spanish.  Costumes had been made, masks created and lines learnt, all to produce a very professional retelling of the story. The children certainly should be proud of what they achieved today and I am sure they will remember the story they retold so well for a long time to come.

Year 4 literacy

It was great to visit one of our year four classes today and see how they were using their own designs of mythical Egyptian god's to support their literacy writing. Lots of creative ideas flowing in the classroom and some excellent imaginative drawings to work with!

Butterfly technology lesson

Today I had great fun working with our Butterfly group to produce our own scripted story boards. We did this using iMovie on the school iPads, with the short film 'For the Birds' as our inspiration.

The activity involved us watching and discussing the main aspects of the film, considering how the different characters might have felt and then putting our own interpretation on the story by writing our own narrative.  We then placed stills from the film into iMovie, added our own narration and sound track, opening credits and end titles. We then saved our movies and exported them to Dropbox to share with each other.

A great morning using ICT to support our writing curriculum.

Respect those in authority

In assembly on Friday we considered how important it is to respect those in authority and why it is important to do this.

We looked at a few examples of when this doesn't happen, and what the consequences of this might be and reflected on what this might teach us.  In particular we compared the way in which sportsmen respect referees - with a particular focus on the differences between footballers and rugby players! It was very interesting to see how two completely different games, have two very different approaches.

Our prayers focused on those in authority that Jesus calls us to pray for, but also we prayed for those who really need people in authority to stand up and take action on their behalf.

Respect others

This week we will be considering how important it is to respect others, to show them that you value them, their thoughts and opinions and their feelings and beliefs.

In preparation for one of my assemblies this week I came across a number of different quotes and reflections on this matter.

They certainly made me think!
